CFOs to discuss survival in current political and economic times

The current economic and political uncertainty in South Africa and the subsequent constraints and opportunities in the business environment is the topic for this month’s CFO Talks event.

Sipho Pityana, Chairman at AngloGold Ashanti, will be the keynote speaker, joined by panelists Bikash Prasad, Senior Vice President – Finance, Olam International; Justin Froneman, Senior Vice President: Finance, Sibanye Platinum; Andrew Davison, Head of Investment Consulting, Old Mutual Corporate Consultants; and Cas Coovadia, Managing Director, The Banking Association South Africa.

The panel discussion will revolve around how to survive in uncertain political and economic times.

Some of the issues that will be discussed are the impact of the ratings downgrades on the economy in terms of foreign direct investment (FDI), sustainability, jobs, etc.; exploring the dual responsibility companies have in the business and political fields; whether to remain neutral or to act in the light of recent events; and the meaning of ‘radical economic transformation’

The event is free and takes place on 27 July at the UNISA Graduate School of Business Leadership in Midrand, from 08:30 to 10:45.
