CIPC Youth Awards are Open for Young Innovators

With the view of unleashing young talent and support their journey toward becoming successful entrepreneurs, the Companies and Intellectual Property Commission (CIPC) has launched the first-ever CIPC IP Youth Awards, for young South African innovators aged 15 to 28. This initiative highlights the role of intellectual property (IP) in driving creativity, innovation, and economic growth.

Award Categories

Young entrepreneurs, inventors, and creators can submit their ideas in six categories:

  1. Technology for Sustainable Development – Innovations tackling global challenges.

  2. Creative Works (Copyright-Protected) – Recognising excellence in the arts and digital media.

  3. Solutions for Managing Counterfeit Goods – Encouraging innovation in fair market protection.

  4. SMME Excellence in Intellectual Property – Showcasing small businesses using IP effectively.

  5. National Award for Schoolchildren (Ages 15–18) – Encouraging young students' creativity.

  6. National Award for Women in IP – Honoring women’s contributions to innovation.

How to Apply

  • Deadline: 3 March 2025

  • Requirements: Entries must be original, impactful, and aligned with an award category. Innovations must have IP protection (patent, trademark, or copyright) or pending registration.

Winners & Recognition

Winners will be announced at a gala event in Johannesburg on 27 March 2025. This is a major opportunity for young minds to gain recognition and support in the business world.
