What time do you usually wake up on weekends?
4:30 AM
Are you an early bird or a night owl?
Early bird
How do you spend the first hour of your day?
I make a list of my tasks for the day and prepare for them.
What sparked your interest in accounting or finance?
I have always been passionate about accounting and especially tax. The satisfaction of assisting someone with a tax problem or reducing their taxes (legally) is indescribable. Working with people and helping where others can't drives me to do better in my field.
Can you share some key career milestones or defining moments?
Implementing effective tax planning strategies that significantly reduce tax liabilities for clients and assisting businesses with tax compliance to avoid interest and penalties have been key highlights in my career.
How do you build strong relationships with your clients?
I strive to be a good person and assist clients when needed, especially in urgent situations. I value being approachable and affordable, focusing on high service value. I follow up consistently and, when necessary, meet clients in person to collect all required information.
What are some future goals for your firm?
I aim to expand by taking on clients in specialised industries and tailoring services to meet their needs. I also hope to employ young individuals who haven't had the chance to study, empowering them to pursue their dreams.
What’s next on your professional journey?
I would like to eventually become a certified business analyst.
Share your strategies for maintaining balance between personal and professional life.
As a single mother, I’ve learned that setting boundaries is key. With recent assistance for tedious tasks, I have more time for my daughter and personal life. Boundaries during personal time are essential, and my clients respect that.
What do you enjoy outside of work?
Spending time with my daughter at the beach or cooking indoors when the weather isn’t ideal.
Do you mentor or support other team members in the finance department?
I aspire to start tax and accounting workshops for businesses and employees and provide free accounting tuition for underprivileged children and teenagers interested in finance.
What advice would you give to someone aspiring to start their own accounting practice?
Take the risk and don’t overthink. Making connections early on will support you in the long run.
What’s your favorite quote or mantra that motivates you?
I believe that no matter our circumstances, there is always a way to change and become better.
Share a leadership lesson or a piece of advice that’s been valuable to you in your career.
I once had a boss who, instead of getting angry, simply encouraged me to do better. His faith in me was a powerful motivator, reminding me of the impact of compassionate leadership.
What’s something surprising about you that isn’t in your professional bio?
I am very interested in sustainability—be it clothes or recycling/upcycling.
If you could have any superpower to help you in your job, what would it be?
I’d love to instantly identify and solve problems in a business.
What’s your go-to strategy for staying productive during long workdays?
I am most productive when I’m busy. To rest my mind, I turn off my computer, enjoy nature, or read a book. Short breaks every 30 minutes help me stay fresh.
If you could relive one day from your career, which day would it be and why?
When my boss expressed his belief in me despite a mistake, it motivated me to give my best. His respectful approach has left a lasting impression on me.
