What sparked your interest in accounting or finance?
The analytical and problem-solving nature of complex accounting transactions, applying theory to real-life situations, and understanding how businesses operate and make critical financial decisions.
Can you share some key career milestones or defining moments?
Qualifying as a CA(SA) after years of perseverance and overcoming challenges.
What is your role within your company’s finance department?
As a Financial Accountant in Group Finance, I provide accurate and timely financial reporting, meaningful financial insights, and analysis. I am also involved in audits, budget preparation, and forecasts.
How do you contribute to the overall financial strategy of the business?
By ensuring precise financial reporting, offering valuable insights, and working closely with multiple stakeholders to drive strategic decisions.
What is one of the biggest challenges you’ve faced in your role? How did you overcome it?
Managing multiple stakeholders with different needs and expectations. By building relationships, maintaining clear and transparent communication, and managing expectations, I feel I have successfully navigated this challenge.
What tools or strategies do you use to manage the financial operations of the company effectively?

Share your strategies for staying balanced, especially during busy periods.
Prioritizing high-impact tasks, maintaining a structured to-do list, taking necessary breaks, and recognizing that saying "no" is sometimes essential.
What do you enjoy outside of work?
I am big on fitness. Gym, road running, kick boxing, hiking etc anything fitness related count me in. I also enjoy spending time with friends and family. God is my first love, so everything faith based is my number 1.
Do you mentor or support other team members in the finance department?
I do not mentor anyone at the moment. However I work collaboratively with various teams eg. AP, AR, Treasury, Shared Services, Tax etc we fuel each other up where we lack the expertise.
What advice would you give to someone aspiring to work in a finance department?
Technical knowledge is key. Knowing how to balance numbers is one thing, but understanding their implications is another.
Passion drives excellence. When you work with purpose, your contributions will have a meaningful impact.
You are human first. Ask for help when needed and recognize that growth takes time.

Despite being an introvert and avoiding violence, I am a huge rugby fan, supporting the Blue Bulls and Springboks.
If you could have any superpower to help you in your job, what would it be?
Financial foresight—to predict market trends and conditions ahead of time.
What’s your go-to strategy for staying productive during long workdays?
Taking short breaks and incorporating gym workouts to recharge.
If you could relive one day from your career, which day would it be and why?
The day I shook the CEO of SAICA’s hand welcoming me to the profession. It was a confirmation that after years of failure, I finally obtained my dream - my CA(SA) qualification.
