SARS Steps In to Prevent Airport Fuel Shortages

To help prevent fuel shortages at South African airports, from 21 October 2024 to 20 October 2025, SARS granted special permission to import kerosene fuel. This temporary measure gives time to sort out issues with deregistering manufacturing warehouses and registering affected storage facilities.

SARS will contact all affected businesses directly to ensure they meet the necessary compliance requirements. By acting quickly, SARS hopes to keep the aviation fuel supply steady and ensure smooth travel for everyone.
