Confirmed Disruption in UIF Online Services Causing Delays

The Unemployment Insurance Fund (UIF) online platforms are currently experiencing significant disruptions impacting essential services such as uFiling, Unstructured Supplementary Service Data (USSD), Virtual Office, and the UIF Covid19 TERS systems.

The Cause of the Disruption

The disruption stems from a ruling by the Pretoria High Court on 30 August 2024, which issued an interim interdict against a newly appointed service provider. This legal action has temporarily halted their operations, affecting all associated online UIF services.

What can we expect?

The outage may cause delays when submitting and processing claims.

  1. Delayed Claim Processing: The inability to access online services may lead to delays in filing and processing unemployment claims and other related benefits for clients.

  2. Increased Administrative Load: You may need to resort to manual submissions or alternative measures, increasing administrative tasks and potentially causing backlogs.

  3. Client Service Impact: These delays and additional burdens could affect your ability to provide timely service to clients, impacting their satisfaction and your firm’s efficiency.

What is next?

The Minister of Employment and Labour, Minister Meth, has assured stakeholders that measures are being put in place to mitigate the impact of this disruption and prevent such occurences in the future. An announcement will be made as soon as online services are expected to resume.

In the meantime, we advise all accounting professionals to prepare for these adjustments and inform clients about potential delays.
