LinkedIn versus POPIA - Is Our Information Secure?

The South African Artificial Intelligence Association (SAAIA) has filed a complaint with the Information Regulator of South Africa about LinkedIn’s use of personal data from South African users to train AI models without consent.

SAAIA is pushing for responsible AI that respects individual rights, especially concerning personal data. Founder Dr. Nick Bradshaw stressed that AI developments must protect individuals and nations from harm.

Key actions suggested by SAAIA:

Accountants and professionals should understand how personal data is used in AI and consider privacy and compliance impacts. Responsible data practices are essential for trust as AI evolves.
