Property Practitioners: Time to Upgrade from Candidate to Non-Principal!
If you're a candidate property practitioner, it's time to take the next step in your career! The Property Practitioners Regulatory Authority (PPRA) has outlined a clear process to upgrade your status to Non-Principal Property Practitioner – and here’s what you need to know in plain language.
What is a Status Upgrade?
It’s the process of moving from being a candidate property practitioner to a non-principal property practitioner – basically, you’ve completed your required training and are now fully qualified (but not yet a principal).
Who Can Apply?
To upgrade, you must have:
A valid Fidelity Fund Certificate (FFC) as a candidate PP.
Passed your NQF Level 4 Real Estate qualification.
Passed the PDE 4 (Professional Designation Exam Level 4).
How to Apply for the Upgrade
Apply for a Non-Principal FFC.
Submit the following documents:
Completed application form.
Letter of employment (showing you're working as a non-principal).
Clear copy of your ID.
Proof of payment (check the PPRA fee schedule).
Log a query on the PPRA portal to let them know you’re applying.
PPRA will process your application.
You’ll get an invoice and must complete the payment.
Once paid, your new FFC will be issued.
Download the new FFC from the PPRA portal.
Note: Your new FFC won’t say “Non-Principal” on the document, but your status will be updated on the portal.
When Should You Apply?
If you passed PDE 4 before 1 Jan 2025, apply immediately — deadline is 31 October 2025.
Going forward, once you pass PDE 4, you must apply for the upgrade within 3 months.
This upgrade is your ticket to more responsibility and career growth in the property industry. Don’t miss the deadlines — check your status on the PPRA portal and submit your application as soon as you’re eligible!
