National Treasury’s Global Investor Call
After the budget speech on 12 March 2025, the National Treasury will hold a Global Investor Call (GIC) on the same day at 16:00 South African time. This is an online meeting where government officials will speak to international investors about South Africa’s financial plans. The call will be led by Dr. Duncan Pieterse, the Director-General of National Treasury, along with senior officials.
Why is This Important?
Our government wants to attract investors to South Africa by explaining its budget plans, financial policies, and economic outlook. This call is not about selling bonds or raising money (which is why it’s called a "non-deal" call). Instead, it's a chance for the government to update investors and answer their questions.
The Organisors
Two financial institutions are helping to arrange this call:
Goldman Sachs International
Investec Bank Limited (along with its partners Vunani Capital Partners and Cinga Capital)
What Happens After the Call?
After the online session, there will be in-person investor meetings in:
Cape Town: 13–14 March 2025
Johannesburg: 28 March 2025
Further international meetings will be announced later.
How Can Investors Participate?
Investors can pre-register for the online call.
They can also submit questions in advance through Goldman Sachs or Investec representatives.
After the meeting, an audio recording will be available for those who missed it.
A detailed presentation will be published on the National Treasury’s website here.
Why Does This Matter?
This is part of the government's effort to boost investor confidence and ensure that South Africa remains an attractive place for international investments. By being open about its financial plans, the country aims to increase economic stability and attract funding for key projects.
